The tool is based on the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines for endometriosis

The NICE guidelines are evidence-based recommendations for health and care, to help healthcare professionals make decisions about diagnoses and treatments with you. The guidelines are made by independent committees, including healthcare professionals and members of the public, and consultation with stakeholders.

The NICE guidelines list symptoms and signs for when healthcare professionals should suspect endometriosis. We have focused the tool on these common key symptoms.

However, we also recognise that endometriosis can include other symptoms as well. To learn more, take a look at our page about the symptoms that could be endometriosis.
