About Endometriosis Cymru
This website is for you if you have been diagnosed with endometriosis or have symptoms that you suspect may be endometriosis. It is also useful for parents and carers of people affected by these symptoms, along with employers and educators.
The site is a collaborative project by the Welsh Government and NHS Wales, with Cardiff University and Fair Treatment for the Women of Wales. It was commissioned to support the government in reducing delays in diagnosis for patients with endometriosis in Wales, to improve patient outcomes, and encourage open conversation about endometriosis.
The website hopes to achieve these goals by:
- Helping people to understand the signs and symptoms, and disease of endometriosis, with information and useful diagrams
- Explaining why it takes a long time to diagnose endometriosis due to different ways the disease presents, and information about diagnosis, treatment and care
- Providing practical support for those with suspected or confirmed endometriosis, around work, education and advocacy
- Empowering and building empathy for people living with endometriosis
- Explaining symptom reporting and its importance in diagnosis, and provide a useful tool for monitoring and reporting symptoms to doctors.
The content of the website is based on health research and theories developed in Wales and internationally. It was created and approved by NHS Wales, Welsh Government, experts in psychology, physiotherapy, and other specialisms.
